Gianni Maestrucci
He graduated in 1995 in percussion instruments with top marks, at the conservatory of his city, under the guidance of masters Antonio Caggiano and Riccardo Balbinutti. He perfected himself by following masterclasses and lessons by David Friedman, Andrea Dulbecco, Mike Rosen, Mike Mainieri, Gert Mortenzen, Mike Quinn, Evelyn Glennie.

He collaborated intensely for 15 years (1994-2009) with the orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Turin and with the institution's chamber ensembles. During this long period he was directed by conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, Daniel Oren, Dietfried Bernet, Gianandrea Noseda, Riz Ortolani, Peter Maag, Hubert Soudant, Emil Tabakov, Yoram David, György Győriványi Ráth, Salvatore Accardo, Gianluigi Gelmetti, David Angus, Sir Jeffrey Tate, Lu Jia...

Since 2005 he has assiduously participated in productions of the Orchestra Città Aperta dell'Aquila specialized in the production of film music ("Sleeping Beauty" M. Bellocchio, "Andiamo a quell Paese" Ficarra Picone..) and live soundtracks of silent films (restoration and recording of the music for the DVD films “The Gold Rush” and “A Woman of Paris” by C. Chaplin under the direction of Timothy Brock).

He has performed concerts as a soloist on vibraphone, marimba and sets with the Abruzzo Symphony Orchestra, the Perugia Chamber Orchestra and the Officina Musicale dell'Aquila.

He is a founding member of the Tetraktis Percussioni quartet. In 30 years of activity, he has performed concerts with the ensemble throughout Italy, and tours in Europe, Africa, North America and Asia. With Tetraktis Percussioni he is the promoter of the research and development project of the chamber repertoire for percussion and has made recordings and world premiere performances of dedicated pieces by composers such as Giovanni Sollima, Mauro Montalbetti, Gianvincenzo Cresta, Vieri Tosatti, Federico Gardella, Paolo Ugoletti, Ramberto Ciammarughi , Carlo Boccadoro, Carlo Crivelli, Fernando Sulpizi, Tonino Battista, Virginia Guastella, Federico Ortica, Bruno De Franceschi, Riccardo Panfili...

Since 1999 he has held the role of vibraphonist and percussionist in the Perugia Jazz Orchestra directed by Mario Raja (CD “Love, Gloom, Cash, Love - The music of Herbie Nichols”). He is a member of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra.

Since 2003 he has worked in various musical theater productions, workshops and research projects with the Permanent Laboratory on the Art of the Actor of Domenico Castaldo (Turin).

In October 2020, with the Tetraktis quartet, he won the MAECI competition with the video-concert "Un rustling along thirty years" published on the portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In June 2022 the CD of unreleased songs by Diego Conti "Musica per violino e percussioni" was released (Tactus label) in which he plays with the violinist Laura Marzadori, and the percussionist Laura Mancini.

In November 2014 he held percussion and drum lessons and masterclasses at the “LEGATO MUSIC” school in Kota Kinabalu – SABA Malaysia.
From 2011 to 2015 he held the role of Educational Director of the Musical Academy of Perugia. He directs rhythmic workshops and percussion groups (Umbria Rhythm Lab, Assalto Ritmico) in various educational and training contexts.

Since 2018 he has taught in various Italian conservatories. Since 2023 he has held the chair of Percussion Instruments at the Gioachino Rossini Conservatory of Music in Pesaro.
